There's been a bit of a buzz on twitter tonight. Due to a Solar storm coming from the Sun, the Northern Lights have been viewable from Scotland and some reports from the Lake district. Later on through this week it is expected to work its way down to the Midlands. The strongest solar storm is estimated to hit earth January 27th - 28th. I will be checking the sky through the night this week and will upload any video of the Aurora on YouTube, stay tuned. I've seen these things before but always thought they would be WAY out of the price range of the normal person but $1750 for the one colour and $2000 for the 2 colour model means surely it won't be long till the price of these things start coming down further as 3D printers get more popular. I think we will see these things in every home in the not too distant future.  The first thing I would make is either a RobGroove.com 3d statue to sit on my desk or maybe a PSJunkies.com one. While my uses for this technology is just for fun I can't help but think how great it would be to figure out exactly how to design whatever I wanted. One of the coolest parts about this product is the fact its all open source with a large and growing community behind it which means the sky's the limit. Also just think how many new inventions can now be created. THIS is the future and its here....... Why does bacon taste so good? my personal beliefs are that the complex chemical interaction in the meat is what produces the winning combination of taste and smell in a bacon butty and that the reaction between amino acids in the bacon and reducing sugars in the fat is what provides the simple snack with its appeal. Also the chemical changes that take place when the bacon is heated are more important than other variables such as brown sauce distribution or toaster settings. At the centre of it all is the Maillard reaction, a chemical reaction between an amino acid and a reducing sugar which often requires heat. The acid and sugar react to release a huge amount of smells and flavours. The smell of sizzling bacon in a pan is enough to tempt even the staunchest of vegetarians. There's something deeper going on inside. It's not just the idea of a tasty snack. There is some complex chemistry going on. Meat is made of mostly protein and water. We're in a new era of entertainment. With so much content at our finger tips thanks to the 3 W's we are no longer to conform our entertainment to the drip feeding TV companies who decide what we watch and when we watch it while blasting us with adverts making 30 min shows only show 20 mins of stuff worth seeing. It's not surprising the internet not plays such a big part in out lives as far as entertainment is concerned. As 2011 comes to an end I thought I'd share some of my favourite Interweb content with you. Music Videos Chase & Status - Blind Faith (Uploaded Dec 9th 2010) Definitely one of the best videos I've seen this year has to be Chase and Status - Blind Faith. It was only when I did a little research into the making of the video for this blog that I realized the video was recorded for the track.
