Thank you! My PS3 kept freezing on everything, but this fixed it. I can now enjoy FFXIII-2 again.

You can now do this via the official sony entertainment website.
Just goto http://www.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com scroll down to the bottom, find account management, log in with email and psn password, select account, then media and devices on left hand side it will the show 4 boxes, top right hand box is game systems here you can deactivate all ps3′s that are currently active on your account.
