One of the real crowd pullers besides all the Pre-Alpha titles and Beta titles had to be the chance to win a 3D TV. As soon as I heard we could compete in a tournament playing MotorStorm Apocalypse for this amazing prize, I went straight online and bought MotorStorm Pacific Rift for practise. I already had MotorStorm but it didn’t have trophies so I thought I might as well work towards another platinum while I’am at it, right? It didn’t take me long to realise the trick to MotorStorm is you just have to know the track, My buddy @Omac_Brother confirmed this as he almost owns the platinum for MSPR.
So that was it, I had 4 days to get a feel for MotorStorm and I felt knew the basics. I was ready for the competition.
As soon as I entered the #BetaRooms one of the helpful staff who was in charge of one of the competition consoles told me where the practise MotorStorm consoles were and that I should practise before laying down a time as everyone only gets one shot, no pressure there then 
.
During the 4 hours I was there I tried my best to get as much practice as I could while trying to get one the big games such as GT5, Move and Killzone 3 and while I was doing this I couldn’t help but notice the lines for the MotorStorm comp was already long. After about 4 or 5 practise runs I felt ready to lay down a time but I only just managed to do it in time. Me and Damo were the last 2 people allowed to compete, we made it just in time.
My turn came….. My heart started beating. I passed my camera to Damo and got ready to drive.
The game started. Im all about the Boost to begin. i managed to avoid most of the pack and get ahead of the tanker. Through the cloud of smoke I go and I realise i had a great start, My heart started to make its way up to my throat…
I made it about half way through the track and realised im in with a good chance but “keep cool” I kept telling myself (I can honestly say I’ve never felt pressure this intense before) I kept my cool and didnt make any mistakes but then a damned blue car gave me a slight tap making me scuff a wall, probably making me lose about a 3rd of a second or more.
A little futher up the track Damo’s voice rings out “You’re gonna have this ya know”. All i wanted to do was not crash and keep my boost up and the thought of winning could only make me slip up so I just tried my best to just concentrate on the task at hand. With buildings collapsing all around and debree flying everywhere all I wanted to do was not crash. With the end coming closer I hear Damo shout out “GO ON LAD!” Where is the end? I’m about to have a heart attack!.
Down into the subway i go im sure the end is around here somewhere. Then it’s back into daylight and i see the end, I glance at the time. I might just do it, I might just do it. With my heart feeling like its about to explode i hit boost for the last time…………….
I found it, I found the end of the track…….
The time shows up……… I hit 1:41.46, I need to beat 1:41.15 I was just 0:00.31 behind.
with my heart about to busrt out of my cheast and my hands shaking I wasn’t yet sure if I did it of not. I didnt know where I was. Then I came to realise I hadn’t done it which is when the staff member in charge of this console told me Iwas the 2nd person to break 1:41 today, Just sucks the other guy beat me (why couldn’t he have just not showed up 
)
MAN! that was intense. It kinda reminded me of playing clan ladder matches on SOCOM but with a LOT more riding on it. I at least managed to scoop up a lil prize for 2nd place which I hope to receive in my email inbox soon but the downside is im gonna have to spend the next month walking around saying 0.31 to myself.
Oh well maybe next year eh.
Oh yeah by the way if you won the 3D TV in Birmingham on Sunday 1st of August 12noon – 4pm add me on your PS3 i need to beat you
