Lost Planet 2

lost planet artI bought this game on day one and i’m happy i did as its bloody brilliant. I’m sure you played the Lost Planet 2 Multiplayer demo and if you didn’t you should as if 1 million people download it, Capcom will donate $20’000 to charity. BUT! the LP2 MP demo doesn’t do the game justice. It’s kind of  annoying in the LP2 MP demo as you get to play one game and then you have to re-join the lobby, wait for it to fill up and then you can play and  the demo will not let you rank up. While this game has GREAT! customize options its not the bread and butter of the game.

Get Co Op

If you goto the PSN Store and use the search option, Look for lost planet 2 and download the LP2 CoOp demo. Grab 3 friends and beat that sucka. THIS! is the demo that will give you a good taste of the game. It’s all about communication in this game so you might want to turn your mics on and well, you all should have your mic’s on if your gonna play any game with the mic ability. The mics are there for a reason and that reason is it helps with your gameplay and well, its fun to talk to people and meet new gamer friends while playing is it not?

Back2theGame

I’ve seen this game get a few bum scores like in  the PSN UK’s “First Play” (kindaike Qore)  HD video review guide and while they did say it was a good game they also said the whole game is just shoot some dudes and things, beat a boss then repeat again and again. THIS IS WRONG! its not the monotonous game reviewers think it is. I get the feeling some of these reviews are from people who didnt play the game with friends using mic’s and who didn’t beat the game. I myself started on Normal difficulty and am near the end and so far i think its a great purchase. Ill be playing this one for a while.

You do get the odd level you just fly through in under a min and think what was that? but theres not many levels like that. There is a story to the game and better yet, you get a slightly different story depending on when you join the group eg, host the game and be the 3rd person to join and you get story 1, enter the game as player 2 or 4 and you get story 2 which makes it not seem like the same game when you play through it 10 times lol. Well, if your like me and want that platinum trophy that is.

Boss’s

The Bosses in this game and larger than gargantuan! they start off about the size of a 5 story building and while i havent seen the final boss i have seem a boss about 6 times bigger than a standard warehouse and it seems all the boss fights require you to communicate with your friends to take that sucka down. All the bosses are also very different and usually take you a few try’s to figure out their weakness’s leading to a very rewarding win. My favourite boss so far requires you and your team to control this massive cannon. 1 person loads the ammo with a crane, one cools the whole thing down and the other 2 rotates and fire the thing. you have to hit the beast about 6 times and all of this while on a high speed train speeding through the desert with the massive beast swiming through the sand. EPIC STUFF!

Multiplayer battles

On top of all that theres another side to the game and that comes in the form of Multipllayer. i won’t go into this too much as i wanna get back on the game soon but i will tell you its great fun. lots of maps, lots of VS’s (Vital Suits aka Mech’s) and lots of fun. 1 thing i really love about it though is the xp you get in canpaign are the same points you earn in MP which means you can level up in a co op with your friends and then take your customized character to the MP battles.

I highly recomend this game to anyone who has friends with mic’s and are looking for something a little different.

Charity

Do your part.

Currently on the Playstation Store there is a free demo download by the name of Lost Planet 2 and there’s something special about this demo. Capcom (creators of the Lost Planet series) have announced that they’ve started a charity campaign called, “Kill Big for Charity”. which is a partnership with Music for Relief, a non-profit organization dedicated to disaster relief and disaster risk mitigation, to contribute $20,000 to charity if one million demos are downloaded across both PSN and XBL before May 5, 2010. An additional $5,000 will be added to the pot if an extra 500,000 demo downloads can be achieved.

So come on guys, even if you dont even play it. Make sure you go on over to the PS Store or the “Ahem” XBL Store and grab that free Lost Planet 2 demo.

The demo itself is pretty tight, but there is one thing thats annoying. its just a one game multiplayer demo so if you want to play again you have to load up into a new lobby and start again. Which means you don’t get to see your  character level up. Its only a taste. The game will include a single player game aswell, which can also be played as a 4 player co op and ive already got mine ordered for May 11th. It looks fun. (you should be able to search the PS store for the co op lost planet 2 demo if you haven’t tried it yet)
