MAG Beta 2 incoming!!!

On the 24th of this month (August) the new MAG beta client will be freely available on the PlayStation store for all to download (Probably available on the 25th in EU) which will allow everyone who owns MAG to be a part of the next phase in the EPIC game only available on the PS3. The download will be available to everyone but only the people with the MAG disc in their PS3 will be able to play in the beta. Don’t worry if you play MAG there will still be lots of players in the original game as the number of new MAG beta players will be capped so if you get a message saying the beta is full you’ll just have to try a little later.

The beta will only be running for four hours twice a day Monday to Friday.

There’s about to be a HUGE! amount of new weapons and gameplay coming to MAG as a result of this beta phase and I personally just can’t wait to check it out. Also you might want to hold onto your MAG beta client as it will be used again in the future to test the next beta after this one which I think is a very cool way for a game developer to let the user base just pop in and have a look at features they’re currently working on. For those of you who own a PS3 and enjoy shooters but do not yet have MAG you need to go out and get it. I believe MAG is a game

that’s just gonna keep on having new content added as time goes on and as I have platinum’d the game already I still really enjoy playing. Also with the Clan wars coming to MAG soon we can see once again that its a game which just keeps on growing.

Oh and how could i forget, MAG will have PS3 Move support (YES!!!)

MAG Double XP

Not quite double xp weekend but rather “Double XP until further notice” on all games completed in the “Directives” zone.

Here’s what MAG wrote on their site.

"Good news everybody! Starting immediately (yes, as in right now) all players who join the MAG in-game “Directive” queue will receive DOUBLE experience points!

That’s right folks. It doesn’t matter what mode the Directive queue puts you in, if you complete any Directive game to its finish, you’ll receive twice your earned XP at the wrap-up screen. Best of all? Our double XP promotion will continue on until further notice!

So what are you waiting for? Equip your favorite loadout, log in to MAG’s directive’s queue, and see where the wind takes you. Enjoy!"

Looks like ill be playing a little MAG this weekend.

So the MAG DLC was released in Europe today and when you purchase it from the PSN store you have the option to download 2 DLC’s, Both are the same except for the game disc numbers and here’s the problem.

If your unlucky you might read the number on your game case and download that version but the number on your game disc might be different so either make sure you download both versions (this will make them both available whenever you want in the future from the “downloads” option within the PSN store) or you need to download the version with the number the same as your disc, not your case.

My Game Case number is “BCES 00558″ but my Game Disc number is “BCES 00818″

Not 100% sure if not following my instructions will cause you to have to pay for the download again should you make a mistake but i thought i better write this and help some of you out if this is a problem.

Ooh and don’t forget its MAG double xp weekend this weekend.

Double XP starts Friday, June 25 at 12:01am Pacific Time (3:01am Eastern, 7:01am GMT). Just be sure to finish any game you start in order to benefit from the additional XP, as folks who leave a game early won’t receive the bonus. Our Double XP Weekend ends on Sunday, June 27 at 11:59pm Pacific Time (2:59am Eastern, 6:59am GMT).

V1.06 = Success!

I used to be a bit of a Light Machine Gun whore on MAG, i figured its the way to go as it was pretty acurate and you get a 100 bullet clip (depending on which PMC your on) but the 1.06 update changed that (which is a good thing) the LMG’s are now a lot less acurate but does this pack a punch.

Since the 1.06 patch was released i have to say im very happy with it so far. The assault rifle is my new weapon of choice as its accurate and now has a little more killing power as before the patch you would pretty much have to unload an entire clip into someone to get a kill. Which means you see alot less people running round with LMG’s (Very good Zipper)

Ive noticed the shotgun seems to be pretty deadly. The patch has made all short range weapons very powerfull up close but with a little distance and they’re useless. This goes for the pistol, Shotgun and SMG aswell.

Also the 3 added gun turrets to the APC’s are a welcomed addition although i have not yet managed to get together with my clan to fully test out this feature thanks to us all being split up due to us going to VALOR at the last double XP weekend and then it was someone’s bright idea to go to Raven which is where im currently stuck trying to rank up to veteran back to my clans home on SVER.

DING! Platinum

Another nice surprise in the 1.06 patch was the platinum trophy i finally got due to the patch lowering the amount of things you need to do to get the medals although i do think they lowered the medal requirements a little too much but i guess this does make the platinum seem a lot more obtainable maybe making the masses play more often.

Now, all this change right now has made MAG more of a joy to play but the serious joy is still to come. On June 22nd Zipper are releasing their first Paid DLC which will add 3 new maps and a new game mode which will consist of 2 x 126 players fighting over 3 control points with 16 APC’s (one APC for each squad)
