Creat Studios Adding Community Features

Creat & PSN

Creat Studios and Tik Games are adding some cool community features to their website at the moment. I was lucky enough to be one of the 1st Beta Testers and its looking quite impressive. A poll for potential future DLC? Got it! A discussion board with the developers? Yep, that’s there. Even has your very own profile page which links to Facebook and Twitter.

Creat studios have the most PSN games of any other company, leading the way with such titles as Hamster Ball, Mushroom Wars, Digger and my personal favourite – Wakeboarding HD.

If you are a fan of Creat Studios, they are still looking for Beta Testers but get in quick because the site is filling up.
Follow them on Twitter here – Creat Twitter and DM them to ask if you can be on the beta trial.

Don’t be fooled!

Some douche bag sent me this message the other night telling me to simply put a redeem code into my PS3 and ill receive $120 on my account. Only of course if i fwd the message on to 20 people first lol. REMEMBER! people. if you get a message telling you to fwd it on, don’t do it. you will not get any free money, free games or free anything. This message i received is some kind of scam possibly allowing the sender to log into my account and change my details. Just don’t fall for it and do not spread spam on the PSN.

If you keep receiving spam just do what i do and change your PS3 profile comment to “U Spam = I Delete” then if you get another spam message just delete the sender, you will soon find that friend will apologise and send you a friend request back thus keeping you PS3 free of the dreaded spam.

IMPORTANT! if you receive one of these messages from someone not on your friends list then you should report them to the PlayStation Network Here–> http://np.us.playstation.com/complaint/pc/ComplaintForm.aspx please feel free to report CREEPERX13 if you’d like to test out the complaint form :)

The Unsung PSN Heroes of Online Multiplayer

So here it is, Omac_brothers maiden voyage into blogging *cue applause*

Rob Groove (AKA The PS3 Junkie) has kindly allowed me to add a few of my thoughts and ramblings to his blog. For this, I thank him.
I would like to start my (hopefully) illustrious blogging career by spewing out my thoughts on a few PSN titles that truly are unsung heroes. These games could have been all time greats had it not been for low sales and a lack luster multi-player following.

Lead & Gold: Gangs of the Wild West

I recently purchased “Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West” from the PSN, having seen few good reviews. I was as giddy as a kid at christmas while it was downloading. That feeling quickly disappeared. After installing and logging on, I went to the lobby and there were no active games. “Hmmm” I thought to myself “Perhaps If I start a game, some people will join”. So that’s what I did. 30 minutes later and I’m still dragging bags of money across the map alone. Closing the game, I felt very disappointed.
I have played the game several times since then, and have had the chance to play a match or 2 with other people and have realised what an excellent game it is. The controls are fluid, the graphics look great and the sound of a revolver popping off your team mate from the other side of the map really does sound brilliant. Imagine Team Fortress 2 but in the Wild West. Despite all of that, the game will never be a hit because of its low sales. Perhaps it was hampered by the release of Read Dead Redemption a week later? Perhaps the £9.99 price tag put buyers off? All I know is, If I could get a game with enough players for a decent match, I would be hooked.

The same situation has happened on a few PSN titles I have purchased. “The Punisher:No Mercy”, with its Unreal Tournament style mayhem, was simple and addictive. Anyone who had played the single player campaign will attest to that, but getting an online match with more than 3 players is like getting an Xbox 360 fanboy to admit that Killzone 2 is awesome – Impossible.

And then there is “Age of Booty”. The original trophy list released for this game included a Platinum trophy (it didnt make it past Sonys checks though) and rightly so. The single player campaign is fun, strategic and at times, brutally difficult. It has an faithful online following for the PC but unfortunately, this didn’t translate to sales on the PS3. I installed this game and went straight for an online game. A whole hour later, and I still hadn’t started a match. Not even a single person had joined the lobby. Frustrated.

What I’m trying to get at with my incessant ranting is that, I wish more PSN players would take a chance with a purchase every so often. All three of these games could have been big hitters for the PS3 had more players bought them. Lead and Gold “could” have been an enjoyable online experience, if more people had tried it. Punisher “should” have been a must buy for Marvel Comic fans, but it wasn’t. Age of Booty “might” have had teenagers pretending to be pirates all over the world, but it isn’t. Take a chance! Try one of these 3! The more of us that buy them, the better they get.

PSN+ day 1

Got it!

As soon as i saw the 3.40 update available on Tuesday i rushed straight over to the Playstation store to see if it was up and lo and behold it was there beaming in all its gold cross glory. So i used £39.99 from my PSN wallet (which ive had ready to go for the last week just incase the wallet funding system crashed ;p) and i bought that sucka with no hesitation at all. Exclusive beta’s, exclusive avatars and free dynamic themes aswell as free games yes please!

So ive now had my Playstation plus account for a hot minute it’s nice to know im special for the next year until i have to pay again and i guess only time will really tell weather or not its really worth it (even though im sure it will be)

What’s in the box?

So what do you get? Well first off you get a gold D-Pad nect to your name to show your a Plus subscriber.

The PSN+ deals are different depending on which country you’re in so the best thing to do is pop over to the playstation store and have a look what’s available. also check out the trailer too.

What i do know is while the American 1 year PSN+ suscription gets you 3 extra months of PSN+ over on the other side of the pond the UK PSN+ 1 year subscription gives you a downloadble copy of “Little Big Planet”  to keep forever.

Personally i think it’s worth it. you get all this content with a full year more to come. the PSN Plus free games will update every month meaning you get more than your moneys worth in games and who knows what cool Beta games we will get to play before anyone else. To be honest its the beta’s i want more than anything and i think the Exclusive Avatars and dynamic themes are a nice lettle extra. You also get all your games updates, patches and anything playstation think you should see downloaded to your PS3 for you while you away thanks to the “Automatic Download” feature.

Downloads content such as game patches, system software update data, and video items recommended to you, automaticlly. This system will retsart automaticlly at the scheduled time, and will begin to download.

I already bought Wipreout HD a while back and i have my Little Big Planet platinum trophy so for me there isn’t really much for me this month but some free avatars a couple dynamic themes 2 game trials and some discounts on games and add-ons but for the price of 1 game it’s so worth it.

But i got my gold cross and im a subscriber so BRING ON THOSE BETA’S SONY!

Is PSN+ for you?

I think if your a casual gamer who maybe plays for an hour or 2 a night probably not. If you’re like me on the other hand and clock up a staggering 50 – 100 hours a week you will most probably find it worth investing it. If you’re not sure why not check out the 90 day subscription when you see something you like in the Playstation Plus section of the store.

One thing to remember: you only get to keep PSN Plus downloads as long as your a subscriber to PSN+. UK subscribers who purchase the 1 year subscription before August 3rd  will get to keep LBP forever.

I will blog about this feature again when i have some more news or info to share so yall come back now ya hear.
